YY Cocktail #9: Reaching Zero Waste through Social Business

March 15, 2017 @ 18:00 - 20:30

I’ve been planning a YY Cocktail event with friends at AIT’s Yunus Centre on Zero Waste and Social Business. We’ll be at The HOME BKK next Wednesday night (March 15th). Event and location info is provided below. Come join us if you’re able.

Program Overview

Waste is a growing problem in Bangkok— Nearly 10,000 tons of waste ends up in landfills every day. Over 90% of our wastes can be reused or recycled, if it is handled properly, but close to 80% currently goes to landfills. Our next YY Cocktail will look at the business opportunity presented by diverting waste from landfills, as well as ways in which social businesses can help close the loop.

What’s a YY Cocktail?

The YY Cocktail is a networking event that brings together social entrepreneurs, investors, students, academia and curious minds to engage in discussion and be inspired by stories of social business innovation and ways in which it is helping to eliminate poverty. Originally launched in the presence of Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, the YY Cocktail is held on a bi-monthly basis in Bangkok, with partner organizations with themes that guide the events’ discussions. Previous YY Cocktails have covered a variety of themes, including Refugee Livelihoods, Responsible Tourism, and Mobile Health.
